Torta mantovana recipe

Often guests ask us for the recipe after trying this cake for breakfast. It is a simple recipe, but it has a very rich taste, especially if you use the eggs of our happy chickens 🙂

My version of the Torta Mantovana

  • 180 g flour
  • 180 g sugar
  • 180 g of butter (or corn oil)
  • 1 sachet of vanillin
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 3 eggs
  • A handful of almonds
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar

Mix all the dry ingredients and then add the liquid ingredients (the eggs and the melted butter or corn oil). Pour the mixture onto a baking tin lined with baking paper. On the surface, place the almonds in a decorative way and then sprinkle the two tablespoons of granulated sugar on top. Then bake in the oven at 180 ° C for about 30/35 minutes. Once baked, let the cake cool before removing it from the baking paper (the sugar placed on the surface will form a sort of thin frosting that will crumble if still hot).
